Pancake Breakfast

Fun'd Raiser

On Sunday, September 27, 2009, The Sarasota Choral Society sponsored a fund raising breakfast at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church themed "Pianos and Pancakes". The menu included scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, orange juice, and of course, pancakes. Entertainment was provided by Tim Gemesi and Debye Bernard on the piano.

Head Chef Ingemar Persson oversaw the operations of the kitchen crew which included Anne Hathaway, Lauryn Sasso, Paul Weber, and Jean Raskin, just to name a few. Karen Files and Greti Szilagyi greeted people at the door and everyone involved helped to serve. Table decorations by Allison Vance helped set the "stage" for a very fun morning.

The Society's new Artistic Director, Genevieve Beauchamp, mingled with the diners and greeted the members who participated. Her two daughters, Ariane Beauchamp and Daphne Waggener helped as well.

After breakfast, Choral Society members joined the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Chancel Choir where the church helped the Society celebrate "Messiah Sunday" and its 65th anniversary production of Handel's Messiah with the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus during the service.

More than 60 tickets were sold for the breakfast helping to raise some much needed funds for the Society which is a 501.c.3 non-profit charitable organization. These funds help the organization defray the operating expenses of putting on large productions such as Messiah.

Loud applause and many thanks to the volunteers who made this event such a success; Debye Bernard who spear-headed the whole thing, Ingemar Persson who arrived before 7:00 AM to start cooking, Allison Vance for providing the decorating, Tim Gemesi for the loan of his talents, and all of the others without whose able assistance this event would not have been possible: June Raskin, Bob Bernard, Lauryn Sasso, Anne Hathaway, Paul Weber, Genevieve Beauchamp and Daphne and Ariane, Karen Files, Greti Szilagyi, Jean Raskin and Sarasota Young Voices (my sincere apologies if I have missed anyone).
