Fund Raising
The Sarasota Choral Society
receives the majority of its financial support through membership dues
and ticket sales. However, putting on a production as large and complex
as Messiah is not an inexpensive
undertaking. The soloists, accompanists, orchestra, and Artistic
Director are all paid professional artists. Venues in Sarasota and
Bradenton are becoming more expensive and less available as time moves
on, and the basic costs of operation are increasing as fuel prices reach
record levels and other supplies and services become more expensive.
However, all of the "behind-the-scenes" work is done by volunteers
out of their homes. The
Sarasota Choral Society has no paid staff or maintain expensive office
space!
The Sarasota Choral Society
provides many benefits. Patrons are able to enjoy and be uplifted by one
of the largest and longest running productions of sacred classical music
in the Sarasota area with full orchestra, professional soloists, and a
chorus with upwards of 300 voices. Chorus members are able to perform in
a major musical production utilizing some of the best venues in the area
and membership is available to anyone
interested in choral singing, auditions are not required. The Choral
Society has supported other charitable and choral organizations such as
The Manger, a local Christian organization that provides food and other
services to those in need, and the Sarasota Boys Choir and Sarasota
Girls Choir. We are also hoping to revitalize our scholarship program to
benefit young musicians in the area which we have had to shelve due to
rising production costs.
Here is how you can achieve
greater community exposure for yourself and/or your company and help us to
continue to present Sarasota's premier choral events of the year:
First and foremost, attend our
performances. Your ticket purchases not only give you access to
beautiful, moving, and spiritual performances, but also go the farthest
in helping us to defray our production costs.
Tickets also make very special gifts for family, friends, and
acquaintances.
Second,
become a member. Your membership makes you a part of the oldest
choral organization in the Sarasota area. No matter what your faith,
heritage, or ethnic background, as a member of the chorus you will find
peace, renewal of hope, and artistic accomplishment as you perform the
beautiful music presented by the Sarasota Choral Society each season.
Third, give a donation or
become a sponsor. The
Sarasota Choral Society is a 501.c.3 charitable non-profit organization
and as such your donations may be tax deductible (less the
cost of goods and services, consult your accountant or
tax professional to make sure this applies to you). For each donation of
$25 or more a DVD of our 60th Anniversary Gala Performance at the Church
of the Palms on November 28, 2004 is available as our gift to you for
your support.
The live recording of our 61st
annual
performance is now available.
For each donation of $15 or more a CD of this performance at the Bee
Ridge Presbyterian Church on Dec. 4, 2005 will be available as your gift
for your generous support.
Donations may be made at any of
our rehearsals or performances or through the mail (please add $5 to
help cover shipping and handling expenses if your CD or DVD is to be
shipped). Supplies are limited and will be provided while they last.
Fourth, remember us in
your Will. Bequests to The Sarasota Choral Society will leave a lasting
legacy of your love for the Arts, in general, and The Sarasota Choral
Society in particular.
We know there are a lot of
choices for your generosity and we respect your ability to make a wise
decision as how to most effectively use your charitable dollar. We
welcome and appreciate all donations no matter how large or small and
hope you will find The Sarasota Choral Society worthy of your attention.
Please contact us for information on some of the ways you may support
our organization. Thank you.
