Deidre is no stranger to the world of
Performing Arts. She is equally comfortable as a Performer, Producer/Director
and as a Teacher, bringing with her a wealth of experience from all these
different facets of the Arts.
Ms. Reigel began her studies at the Piano as a
young child. Later, it was discovered that there was a lovely Mezzo-Soprano
Voice in her, and she began what would become years of intensive Vocal
Training. From there, Deidre ventured into the instrumental world of music,
taking up the Flute, Oboe, Trumpet, Guitar and Bass. She then went on to study
Composition and Music Theory. By her early twenties, Deidre was living in
Florida and pursued her love of Dance - again investing years of dedicated
study. Subsequent to this, she formed her own Revue Show, in which she sang,
danced, choreographed, wrote the orchestrations, and designed the lights, set
and costumes. During this time, she also managed to stay busy in Theatre and
Opera, eventually singing most of the well-known Mezzo-Soprano roles in the
Opera genre.
As her Opera and Theatre career progressed,
Deidre began to view Conducting as the next step. By an unusual turn of events,
she found herself stepping in at the last minute for the Chorus Master of
a production of La Traviata. This led to more intensive study, and finally
Deidre was Conducting in full productions. A three year contract as a
Singer/Dancer at a major Theme Park in Quebec was next on the Roster. And upon
returning to the States, Deidre formed her own 40-member Opera Orchestra.
She also continued to Conduct Regional
Orchestras and Musical Direct in Theatres. Modeling and Television work proved
to be pleasant respites.
The past several years have also seen Deidre
in Europe on Conducting Tours, recordings of which are sold in the States and in
Europe. She has just returned from Los Angeles, where two of her European
Albums were nominated for awards in the Opera and Classical Categories.
A recent transplant to Sarasota, Deidre
continues to maintain a Private Teaching Studio and keeps a busy
schedule Musical Directing in the Theatre. She is also working with her
Business Partner, writing a Rock Opera. The Demo was recorded this past summer,
and they are in hopes of going into Production by the Fall of 2007.
To
be on the podium while the magnificent music of Messiah is happening is a
particular thrill for Deidre. This is a love story of the best kind. The music
has stood the test of time, and the message is as fresh and as important as it
was the very first time this work was ever heard. Both the Choral Society and
it's Artistic Director hope that today you too will experience the thrill of
this wonderful story, and that these amazing messages will carry you into
tomorrow, and many tomorrows to come. |
